Commercial Door Technician

  • Wage: $30-38/hr (pending applicant qualifications)

Who we are: With four locations, Kruse Glass & Aluminum services Saskatchewan & Alberta with glass & construction solutions in three separate divisions. Auto, Residential Construction.  Commercial Construction. We are seeking a Commercial Door Technician within our Commercial Construction Division from Lethbridge, Alberta. 

Job Summary: Do you really, really  know building construction? We need an experienced technician to diagnose problems, adjust, install, maintain, inspect & test a large variety of door systems in a safe manner for commercial projects within Lethbridge and its surrounding market area. 

Note: This role requires applicants to work outdoors, at heights, and in various weather conditions. 

Successful candidates need to know construction very well and have traits and abilities as outlined below. (Note: not all line-items listed below are mandatory, however, the listed items reflect a candidate’s ability to receive the maximum compensation)

Candidate Responsibilities & Preferences

  • be an honest person (eg: only apply if the items below describe you)
  • be experienced as a commercial door technician for swing and sliding door systems  (preferably with brands like Horton and Stanley)
  • be punctual (arrive on time)
  • be reliable (come to work every day)

  • have reliable transportation for all Canadian weather
  • have a current & clean drivers license
  • be able to climb stairs and ladders

  • be able to read blueprints and technical manuals
  • be able to work independently and efficiently
  • physical stamina is required

With multiple locations, Kruse Glass & Aluminum works across Saskatchewan & Alberta to provide glass & construction solutions in the auto, residential & commercial construction space. We are searching for immediate assistance in our Medicine Hat branch.

Job Summary:

Our team is comprised of a very busy group of hard workers with many projects on the go at once. Due to the strong growth in our markets, we require additional building construction and glazing professionals. We are accepting resumes at all levels. From graduated journey person glaziers, apprentices of all levels and even aspiring apprentices too. We’re searching for enthusiastic applicants who genuinely enjoy a diverse workload each day. On a routine basis, our construction projects vary between commercial, industrial and residential spaces. Whether it’s the manufacture of new auto dealerships, large scale multiplex facilities or a simple door, window, mirror & glass-shower installation in a residential home, there is always an abundance of work with Kruse Glass & Aluminum. We understand that this is a very broad group of working environments, therefore we are searching for candidates who comfortably work in diverse locales accordingly. Most times, our projects are local to the area, however there are also instances when Kruse Glass has additional projects which require the team to assist other branch locations, albeit briefly and temporarily. This certainly isn’t commonplace practice, but it does happen enough to warrant note of it’s existence.

  • Valid Class 5 (or better) driver’s license and reliable transportation (drivers abstract required at later date)
  • able to operate lifting equipment (scissor lifts, zoom booms, telehandlers, etc..)
  • certificates to operate above equipment and be comfortable with heights
  • driven to clean up workstations and maintain equipment daily
  • ability to follow instructions & direction
  • demonstrate an ability to safely load & maneuver a full size pickup truck with a tandem axle trailer (while driving in reverse also)
  • able to understand drawings, blueprints & replicate precise measurements
  • ability/knowledge/willingness to work with commercial glass curtain walls, storefronts, structural glass, windows, doors, automatic doors, railing, glass showers and mirrors.
  • Glazier journey persons are preferred, however we encourage apprentices and aspiring apprentices to apply also.
